I am just curious to know about the "Name too long" criteria. What is the permissible limit to the size of the name?

Has any one been waiting for their card longer than 5 months? My wife's PP was stamped with me on 6/13. I received my card a month ago but there has been no change in her status message. I had called the 800 number, they took her information and asked to call back after 30 days. Any one in the same boat?

The way you will know that card is ordered is
you will see online case status message like
"On <date> after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."
and once card order is complete you will get message
"On <date> the card order was completed and we mailed the applicant's new card directly to him or her. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this card, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283."
If you did PS at Baltimore, it seems very fast. I found
just now that my card is also ordered

No card yet .. does anybody know if
the message ever changes for these
cases ? It still says "Transferred on ... "
I called BCIS and they just repeated the
old message. They couldn't help anymore.
They asked me to submit G-731V
card received on 11/04/03.
allthebest, the permissible limit is 18 characters for the first name.
i thought i maintained this limit whenever/whereever. don't know where they got my full name from. even my two eads did not give me any problem. anyways....
all the best for everyone waiting...

congrats on getting your card. one question.
when did the message change for you like card ordered? before too long notice or after too long notice?
since my name is also long, I expected the name too long notice.
but, I didn't get one. The message changed to card ordered now.
Does it mean I don't have any problems?
Thanks for your help.
yes, you don't have a problem. i got the card ordered message only recently (on 10/29), a month and a half after my attorney replied with the name i want on my card.

Hello,
My PP was stamped on 06/11 in Newark my wife received her card 3 months ago. So far i haven't received my card. i called the 800 number. Officer told me to wait for 6 to 12 months after the stamp.
I am planning for vacation in December, going to india.
What kind of documents i need to carry if i didn't get a card in 3 weeks.
Please advise.
thanks
Your passport stamp is valid Green card and you should be fine
with passport. But if anybody can share his/her experience who have done travel on stamped passport would be great

My guess is that it depends on the contractor who does the cards. Some areas where there is hardly any approvals, folks will get their cards soon, when they are ordered. In high approval rate areas, there may be a backlog or priority for eg EAD cards etc. and that's why it takes time. Just a thought.
not been visiting as often as earlier
PS 10/3 i think may be off by a day
spouse(dependant)recieved in 3 weeks mine received on 11/5.

Plase take the 485 approval letters if you have not received the plastic cards.
We were asked for this letter in Mumbai, India. In USA they did not ask for this letter, just the stamp on the passport was sufficient.

Moderator,
Is this Thread, now a candidate, to be posted at the top, and serve as a benchmark for those who got approved and waiting for the physical Card [as a tracker]??
Thanks

BTW, no AP documents or EAD cards were asked by the INS officers (Hartford, CT). Just needed the courtesy copy of the approval letter for passport stamping.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift.
That's why we call it the present.

Hi,

Still waiting for card. It will be almost 6 months. For those who got the card does the message change to card mailed or does it remain like below. Posting the full status from website. I called the number and it gave the same message. I will call again after six months are up and go for the live operator. No hurry. I am still happy that I got the approval and passport is stamped. I mean I do not know why the plastic is needed. Does anyone? Thanks frends :
