    "Notarization" of CP interview docs

    Hi,

I have the following questions about taking NOTARIZED copies of some documents needed for CP intrview. I have highlighted a few things from one such document list posted in one of the messages in this forum.

***2. Collect NOTARIZED employment letter (2/3 copies would be good)

    A US Notary, right ???

***3. Collect last 3 years' Tax copies from IRS and W2 for 3 years

Do I need to go to the local IRS office to collect the copies of my tax returns ??? If so, what is the procedure there ?

***4. Get sailing permit from IRS (Just-in-case item)
This too from the local IRS office ??

***5. Get PCC from Indian Consulate in US (if you are in US) (original and notarized copy)

Again, do you mean a US Notary (given that the document is issued by an Indian office)???

***10. Birth Certificate from all GC applicants. (Original and notarized copy)
***11. Marriage certificate (original and notarized copy)

These are Indian documents.. Do I still need to get these notarized by a US Notary ??

    thanks,
    Swagho

A US Notary, right ??? YES

***3. Collect last 3 years' Tax copies from IRS and W2 for 3 years

Do I need to go to the local IRS office to collect the copies of my tax returns ??? If so, what is the procedure there ? JUST COPIES OF 1040 FOR 3 YEARS ARE ENOUGH.

***4. Get sailing permit from IRS (Just-in-case item)
This too from the local IRS office ??SAILING PERMIT IS NOT REQUIRED. IT WAS NEVER REQUIRED. IT IS A MYTH.

***5. Get PCC from Indian Consulate in US (if you are in US) (original and notarized copy)ONLY ORIGINAL IS REQUIRED WITH 1-2 COPIES. NOTARIZATION IS NOT REQUIRED.

***10. Birth Certificate from all GC applicants. (Original and notarized copy) NOTARIZATION OF BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES IS NOT REQUIRED. CARRY JUST PHOTOCOPIES.

    I agree with nkm-oct23's post.

It is a waste of money to spend on unnecessary notarizations.

Employment Letter: Even one(1) notarized original is sufficient.
For dependents you can enclose copies.

PCC: No notarization required. Just carry the originals whereever
    applicable.

Marriage Certificate/ Birth Certificate: No notarization required.

Birth Affidavits : By parents or eldarly relative. Need to be
    notarized wherever it was executed.

    Sailing Permit: Not required.

Tax Documents: Carry the W2s/ copies of tax filings/ and
    transcripts from IRS.

IRS transcripts you get by calling IRS @ 800-829-1040 and tell the IRS rep that you need tax transcripts for last 3 tax years and you will get in 10-12 days!
