I-551 Required for Employment?

Hi,

My green card was approved last year. I have not received the plastic card yet. My passport stamp is expiring in a couple of weeks. My employer insists that I need to have a valid unexpired stamp to work. They are not willing to accept social security card as proof of employment eligibility for form I-9. Is that right?

Thanks, ****. I do have a regular social security card.

I talked to our HR Director today and got the problem fixed.
