visitor visa - strange situation, please reply

Please help! Need advise/suggestion.

Background:
- Applied for my I-485 in Nov'2001. Got EAD, AP.
- Recently got laid-off, actively looking for a job.
- We are expecting our baby in May, so wanted to call my in-laws
on a visitor visa. I am in a strange situation here and need your
help.
My questions are:
1. Is there any way I can call my in-laws on a visitor visa ?
(I won't be able to provide employment letter or paystubs
because of my job loss)
2. Can my in-laws apply for visitor visa on their own (i.e., without
the supporting document from me) ? In that case, What are
the documents required ?
3. Can my wife (who doesn't work, but has EAD) sponsor
her parents to obtain visitor visa with the help of invitation
letter and bank statements & affidavit of Support (without
employment information) ?

Anybody had similar situation? Please share your experience.

1. You or your wife can sponsor for your in-laws' visitor visa if you have sufficient funds available to cover all their expenses. Since you are not currently employed, you should have sufficient savings. A rule of thumb is around 25K to 35K Dollars. Send copies of all documents related to your savings (stocks, CDs, 401(k), etc.). If your wife is sponsoring, her name should appear on all financial documents sent. Don't forget to send notarized I-134.

2. Most family visitors to US need sponsorship from the US based relatives. Some people have enough wealth to justify the cost of trip to US. They can self-sponsor. Remember most applicants will not fall under this category self sponsoring can potentially invite more scrutiny from consular officials.

I was considering option 2, but when I talked with my inlaws
in India, they told me that a lot of visitor visas are being rejected
because of War. So, I am thinking of going with option 3 (with my
wife sponsoring the visitor visa). Couple more questions....

1. In I-134, what should I write about employment information?
(Since I have lost my job and my wife doesn't work)
(Line 7 on I-134 which asks for evidence of income and
resources) Will it be ok to leave that information blank?
2. On our bank statements, we are the joint account holders,
my name appears first and then my wife's. Will it be ok
to send such statements if my wife fills up I-134?

In terms of approvability, your wife sponsoring does make it any easier.
Answer all questions truthfully (that you are unemployed).
For income/sources you can probably put down the total salary received.
The order of account holders does not matter.

Your situation is a little different that others since you do not have a job. The best you can do is to send all relevant paperwork and hope for the best.

I dont agree with with nkm-oct23.

I-134 is an affidavit of supports in which is an undertaking that you are willing and able to receive, maintain and support a person during his/her stay in US. (Read point no. 5 of I-134).

How an unemoployed person, not having a regular income can support a person visiting him ?

Of course if you have a large amount in bank and number of properties, rent and interest can be taken as your income and the same can be entered as annual income.

My parents are waiting for interview, I have sent two files with all doc required, but have still some doughts that at interview time they even don't take a look on doc parents carrying. and parents can't send the docs to consulate becz authorized courier service from embassy don't allow more than one doc Visa application+Passport+single doc.

(My parents are not in india)

Usually supporting documents will have to be presented to the consulate at the time of interview.
