Urgent Travel to Canada

Hi,

I need to get my I94 updated with a new I94 to continue working. SO am planning to cross the Canada/USA border and come back to USA to get a new I94 with new expiriy date.

Basically my old I94 is expiring on Jan'20'03 and need a new I94 to continue to work.

Does anybody know if they will issue a new I94 if I travel by car.

Or my only option is to travel by air.

--- I don’t know your present situation, If you have filed I-485 then you do not need new I-94 your Status is AOS pending, if you got H1B transferred or got extension then you should have got or will get new I-94 attached to your new H1b approval or extension

---- I don’t know the reason for new I-94, If you take a flight from US to Canada the Airlines will not ask for your current I-94 If you wish you can surrender your I-94 to Airlines before departure to Canada and when coming back to US the INS is at Toronto Airport or Vancouver Airports you have to face INS before you board flight for US, you should show employer letter, your current Pay stubs and valid H1b approval or Visa in Passport

---If you travel by car then while entering Canada you are going to face Canada immigration and they normally don’t take I-94 as it is US matter, if you wish you can give them your I-94 and they will take it, while you come back US INS will give you new I-94 according to your US Visa sticker in your Passport or H1B approval, they will ask you many questions and you have to satisfy them at border, for new I-94 they will charge 5 or 6 USD

Or my only option is to travel by air.

If you get reneview your H1(B) petition, you dont need to get new I-94 beacuse H1(b) petition have new I-94 attached.

If you cross the canada and US Border(only), on return, they will take your current I-94 and will issue new I-94( with expiration date as mentioned on H1(B) petition. You need H1(B) Visa now inorder to go out of the country.
