I am a green card holder since Feb 09. I recently married abroad and left my wife back home. I know the advice is to wait till 2014 to naturalize and petition for my wife. However after witnessing the problems my USC brother in law went through to file for his wife, I am preferring to file for my wife now with the hope that by the time i get my citizenship her F2a will be changed to IR.

I just looked at the Sept 2012 bulletin and saw that the cut off date for F2a is may 2010 does that mean the wait for f2a is two years because I would not naturalize if i can have my wife in 2 yrs after all it would take almost the same time f i naturalized.

Go ahead and file for her now, and then upgrade the case to IR if you naturalize before she is able to immigrate in the F2A category.
