hi my wife and child are us citizens, i live in mexico, but my wife is going to file petition for my greencard but the process takes to long. i was wondering if i could get a visitor visa in order to be with them sooner, and if i get rejected will this affect my petition. i lived illegally in the US since i was a child but left the country three years ago. what can i do to be with my family asap. please help...

You may apply for a visit visa but the chances of it being approved are very low.

Can you elaborate? Did you enter as a child with a visa and overstayed? If so, how many years did you overstay past your 18th birthday?
Or did you enter without inspection?
