    USDA J-1 Waiver after closure of the program in Mar 2002

    Hi Guys,

    I just received my J-1 waiver approval from USDA. My application was pending for last 1 year. USDA had announced closure of the program in March 2002 and then started processing the pending applications in April.
    Will keep u posted about the further progress.

    time lines

    hi guys,

    further update on my waiver process -

    Apr 2001 - application filed with USDA
    Mar 2002 - program announced closed
    Apr 2002 - reprocessing of pending applications started
    Jun 18, 2002 - USDA approves the application and sends to DOS
    Jun 27, 2002 - DOS approves the petition and sends to INS
    July 10, 2002 - INS approval

    Now, will have to go to US consulate, outside US, for Visa
