Travel and extension L1A

We are looking at the timing of when to file for L1A extension. We are going to use the premium processing procedure.

Is it allowed to travel outside the US when you have just send in the I-129 or is there no travel allowed during the 15 days of the premium processing?
We are still in status, current L1A visa expires end of December.

As long as you have a valid visa to return, there should be no restrictions. Consult with your company's lawyers, but generally it shouldn't matter.
If your current visa is expired however - then you'll have a problem to return, but if I understood you correctly, this is not the case for you.
