L2 with EAD to L1 - COS conversion

Hello,

I have an L2 visa with valid EAD. Now, my employer is ready to give me an independent work-permit (L1). We have 2 options : either COS since I am here , or I go back to India and apply for L1 visa interview.
I have following questions :
1> If I opt for COS, will my L2 (or EAD) get cancelled?
2> If I opt for visa interview in India, will my L2 (or EAD) get cancelled?
3> Which option seems more appropriate for me?

Please let me know.
