H1B cap 2011

Hello Everyone

I will be starting a physician job in July 2011 on H1 and I see this year the cap eligible visas are going away soon.
If it gets capped for 2011 and I file for fiscal year 2012 can I work between July-October 2011? Is there a transition visa ht I can work on or do I have to return to home country.
Will it affect my application for green card if I go back to home country?
Can I work on J2 then? (My husband is on J1 in a fellowship program).

I came to US in 2008 on H1b and changed to F1 status in 2009. I have a stamping for h1b till sept 2011. Currently I am working on OPT and want to go to India for Vacation. My question is that do I need to go for F1 stamping (I do not have any previous F1 stamping on my passport) or what I need to do in order to come back in US?
