F-1 reinstatement

Hello Rajiv and everybody,

I had F1 from 1998 to 2005, then I changed to H-1B, I was working and studying from 2006 to 2008 under my H-1B. I lost my H-1B 6 months ago due to circumstances beyond my control.

Can I apply for F1 reinstatement?

Yes you can apply it.

Can you elaborate on your last known status. If you were on H1b and got out of status, then you might not be able to apply for F1 Reinstatement. Also F1 Reinstatement should be applied within 5 months of being Out of Status. if you are out of status for more than 180 days then you are banned from getting any kind of visa to US for the next 3 years.
