Question for Medical/vaccinations etc for AOS

    Hi,
Well, I took the advice of the gurus here and am a happily married man now.
To recap, my N 400, interview was in June,2008, i got a recommended for approval but have yet to see the oath letter come in. My Girl friend/now wife is in the US on another visa, expiring end Sept. So, I am now married and want to get the paper wrk started so thats soon after the oath, I can apply for her without any delay.
Can I have her complete the Medical exam even though I do not have the oath letter yet, and will I need my Naturalization Certificate # or US Passport number to be able to get the medical done? If yes, then that means I will have to wait until after the oath.
Please advise gurus.I rely on you guys.
    Thanks in advance.

    cr.marsh,

You can go ahead and take care of I-693 medical exam right now. This will save you time as it's good for 6 months atleast if not more. I did the same thing when I was getting ready to apply for my wife's AOS pacakge. I filled out all the applications and was all ready to apply for her GC. The only thing that was missing was my Natz certificate. Immediately after the oath, I was able to throw all the paperwork in the mail. You should be good to go & there is no need for natz certificate when taking that medical exam (I-693).

    Good Luck.

    Thanks Atlanta Bro!
So, there is no need for the Naturalization cert # or anything, and she does not have a SSN number as hers is a visitor visa. You still think I can just go and I will be good?
    Thanks for your help.

    No problemo

Yes, she will not have any problems, I promise. My wife didn't have SSN either and I had no natz certificate.

    Don't worry be happy.

If it helps, when i had to do my medical exam, the only
thing they asked to see was my passport.

    Picture ID

Good point. Ofcourse any form of govt issued picture ID would be a requirement to present at the docs office to make sure they are doing the exam on the right applicant.

    Thanks everyone!
In fact she has all her vaccinations up to date and in fact even had the TB, HIV and syphilis tests done, but think they may still ask her to repeat.
We will take the records though. How much do they charge, any ideas? Also, someone said they only take cash?
    Thanks again

Paying by cash only, I don't know about that. If the doctor you plan on visiting is not a roadside doctor, the office should take all major credit cards. Usually you could get the procedure done within $150 to $200.

You could try taking all the medical records and let the office take a look at it but keep in mind USCIS would need a sealed envelope with form I-693 from the docs office otherwise be prepared to receive a nice RFE in the mail and that will delay your process by 2 to 4 weeks if not more. Play safe.
