Advanced Parole- Do you need specific details of the trips?

    Hi everyone.
I filed my I-485 along with I-130 and I-765 in the end of July through my marriage to my US citizen husband. Things seem to be moving very slowly, and it's starting to look like I may be expected to travel to developping countries soon for my job.

I didn't file I-131 (AP) because the officer at InfoPass told us we can only get AP in emergency cases. After reading some threads here, it seems like the officer was wrong! (You can get an AP for unspecified trips right?) So I am thinking about applying for an AP.

I looked at my I-131 form (which I didn't turn in), and it asks which countries I will be traveling to and why. I still don't know which countries exactly I will be traveling to (i have a rough idea but don't know exactly which country and when). Is it possible to get an AP for traveling home (which is not the destination of my business trip, although my country is on my way to the destination) and travel on the AP for the business trip? I'm afraid that I will be causing problems at work because of my immigration status. Any help will be appreciated.

Were you out of status when you filed your I-485 concurrently with your I-130?

If so, I would not advise you to apply for and use AP parole.

Any one apply for I 485 should appy EAD and AP, EAD & AP must get approved within 90 days, USCIS have to approve it or deny it. It is mandatory for USCIS part. Hypotheitically yo can give your home country, reason to visit parents, and tick multiple travel, you get two travel permits.

The officer is incorrect. AP is for emergent travel, not just emergency travel. I had two APs during my AOS (Boston used to issue 6 month APs only) and for both my reason was "visiting folks in Canada".

Didn't read all the replies but you don't need to have specific dates.

I wrote "Not specific date. No travel Planned but need this in case something comes up" and I got 2 APs.

Man! I got cheated... Immigration officers don't know much:(

Wow! Thank you everyone. I guess I should consider applying for AP now. No, I've never been out of status before. Is it possible to apply for AP now?? My concurrent application (I-485, 130, and 765) was sent on 7/27, and I've already finished the finger print appointment on 9/19.

Again, is it possible to state the purpose of the trip to be "visiting folks in Japan" and then use the APs for traveling to another country?

My business trip destination is probably Bangladesh. Of course, I would be going there through Japan. However, does it matter whether I visit a different country than where I specified?

    Thanks again!

1.- It was not immigration officers you talked to, it was costumer service representatives.
2.- You can apply now, but you will have to pay the new fee for the AP, just submit a copy of your I-485 receipt and the rest of the requested evidence.
3.- Yes, you can use it for a different country.
