    N-400 Missed FP Appointment :)

I put my N-400 application in the mail on Nov 10th and subsequently took a break for about 4 weeks, hoping that INS would take some time to generate FP notice. To my surprise, I found FP notice in the mail when I came back from my vacation. The FP appointment was scheduled for Nov 30th. I missed that appointment already.

Has anyone else had similar experience? Can I just go to the service center with FP notice and evidence that I was out during that period?

    Please advise.

    Thanks
    Pump

Just go to the Fingerprint center along with your Green Card, fingerprint notice and explain to them. You will be fine.

Normally, the FL will state your first appointment date, then gave you a weekly date that you can go for your fingerprint in case you could not make the first one. This will have a validation of 6 weeks. For example, on my FL, the first date was 12/8, then it states that I coudl go every following Wendesday until sometime in Jan.

My FP form had a "what do do if you can't make this appointment" section. My daughter couldn't make her appointment, we followed their instructions, and it worked like a charm. What does your FP form say?

    Thanks for your suggestions

I went to the Application Service center (ASC) today and found that they are only open Tue through Sat, 8 AM to 4 PM. I will again go early morning tomorrow. I hope that they accept my request. Otherwise, the FP notice says that if I am unable to appear at the ASC at scheduled date and time, I am supposed to complete the bottom section of the notice and send it to the ASC address. The failure to appear at scheduled time or failure to request scheduling will result into application being considered abandoned. The notice also says that rescheduling may delay my application.

I am hoping that the ASC will do my FP tomorrow. If not, I can hand over the reschedule request to them personally. I will take your advice to go there in person and try getting it done.

    Got FP done today

Just as planned, I went to ASC at 8:00 AM sharp this morning. I showed the notice to the person at the gate. I got a token after filling out the form. I was out of there in less than an hour. The technician was very helpful. They made sure that all finger impressions were good before they let me go. All in all, it was a breeze with no hassles faced because of missed appointment. I hope that my case now moves forward. Thanks again for your kind suggestions.
