Visitor Visa - Will the Visa effective start date be always the day visa is granted

    Hi,

My parents are planning to visit us in Aug 2007 (Change in plans). They have their visa interview on Dec 6th 2006. In their DS-156, for Q.22 (When do you intend to arrive in the US?) we filled in - August 2007.

If the Visa is granted, will they be given the Visa effective from
    A) Aug 2007 or
    B) immediately

If it is effective right away and it is just for 6 months, then it's of no use (it wud expire before Aug 2007). If the visa is always effective from the date of interview i'm thinking of cancelling the appointment and planning to take it closer to Aug 2007. Please suggest.

    Regards

I'd say postpone the appointment by at least 6 months. The receipt stays valid for a year.
I am not an attorney so ...........
