Can I work in the US with Canadian Permanent Residency

Hi,

My friend is a Canadian Permanent resident currently working in Canada. He has a job Offer which is in US. Does he need to process an H1 or L1 visa to work in the US? Does it affect his Permanent Residency in Canada when he starts working in US? His US company has a branch in Toronto. He completed 1 year in Canada.

-- YES.

Does it affect his Permanent Residency in Canada when he starts working in US?

-- Yes, but not because of his US job. This is because he will not be staying in Canada..

-- Yes/No, because of his absence in Canada he may not complete 5/2 rule. Again If the firm is canadian and he work through L1 may not be. Att. advise is important.
