Thread: Namecheck-DONE!!!!!!!!!

  1. Namecheck-DONE!!!!!!!!!

    Hello everyone,
I just received an e-mail from FBI (FBINNCP@ic.fbi.gov) stating that my name check was processed and finalized on May 19th. I had sent a couple of e-mails on May 15 and 16th.

I have been trying through several channels and I am not sure which one worked. Recently I contacted Senator's office and they in turn contacted USCIS (instead of FBI for some unknown reasons!)....but the FBI e-mail message was in response to my e-mail.
    Steps I have taken:
    1. Contacted Congressman (received reply stating that FBI received requst on Nov3, 04)
    2. Requested FOIPA (received 'no-record on file' response)
    3. Sent an e-mail to Secretary of State through their Website!! (response?)
    4. Contacted Local FBI office and submitted a request (no reply so far)
    5. Contacted local police (basically the deputy chief said they cannot do much)
    6. Contacted 2 senators. (I have stated in the letter that I am unable to submit for Fedearal research grants that require permanent status. Based on this, one senator contacted USCIS..still waiting for response)
    6. Faxed request to Senate subcommittee on Immigration and homeland security
    7. Faxed request to house subcommittee
    8. Sent an e-mail to white house regarding the possible national security risks of pending name checks..I have made no request regarding my namecheck (got usual response!)
    8. Started e-mailing FBI in May, 06. (Here I assumed some reasons for the delay (like area of research.. and stated the same in my communication)

I strongly believe that my e-mail was read by a good officer and worked on it!

    Good luck everyone,
    Toxsci.

  3. How to check name check status?

    Hi Toxsci!

I am also one of Oct 2004 filers for I-485. I have tried several time e-mails to this e-mail address but no reply in last month. I called USCIS but they just read out the online response. How can one find out which stage the case is stuck at? Appreciate your input.

    Thanks

If you are a TSC customer, call TSC directly using POJ trick and speak with the respresentative (search for this in the forum). You may need to try this a couple of times before you get a nice representative.
You can also take an Infopass appointment or contact the elected representative to know the status.
    Good luck,
    Toxsci.

    Congrats Toxsci!!!
Senator told me that my name check initiated in 04/2005. I have been sending lot of Faxs, mails and emails to FBI for the past eight months but no reply. Did you write to Secretary of FBI? Would you please tell us how to write to Secretary of State and Senate subcommittee on Immigration and homeland security? Thanks.

Thats good work Toxci. Nowadays I think when someone posts with this subject, "NAMECHECK DONE!!!", it seems almost equivalent like getting a GC. It feels exciting now to get a namecheck done by FBI. Looks like FBI name check is now a higher priority of concern. If that is passed, then your GC is almost 90%.

    Toxci,
Please give us more information, on how you cleared it. Your email is good and gives lot information. But you really need to pass on your research, time you spend on this to us, so we can also do the same. I had sent email to FBI last year and did not get any response, so I had lost hope on it, till your email, which really surprised me as to that FBI are responding.

Thanks and all the best to you.

No. I did not write to FBI secretary. I just e-mailed to name check division.
You can contact secretary of state through their website ( as I mentioned, this may not help much)
    http://contact-us.state.gov/cgi-bin/...er/home.phpvia
As far as committees are concerned, I have faxed requests to senate Majority committee

U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary
Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship
    224 Dirksen Senate Office Building
    Washington, D.C. 20510.
    Fax: 202-224-9102

    And house Democratic committee
U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary
    Democratic members
    2142 Rayburn House Office Building
    Washington, D.C. 20515
    Fax: 202-225-4423

Apart from this, you can also fax to Senate Judiciary commettee and house majority committee (google for their contacts)

I have included following records with all requests
Request letter, a separete list containing Name and other receipt details, FOIPA record received from FBI.

I am not sure which one really works. I think my e-mail to FBI worked!
I have one suggestion. keep trying different things and one of them will work.

    Good luck to you,

    Thank you.
I know..it is the biggest hurdle..if at all there's one step in this process that you do not want be stuck..it is name check!!!
I have posted some more info in my previous posting.
Are you also stuck in name check? There is a thread in immigrationvoice.org and they have also started a yahoo group. you may want to join this group, if you are stuck.
Here are a couple of steps that I think are important
    1. Confirm through congressman enquiry to FBI that USCIS requested your name check and is pending with FBI since xy date
    2. Request FOIPA (generally get response in 15 days as 'no-record)
    3. write to a different elected representative (include FOIPA record)
    4. fax to senate and/or house subcommettees
    5. e-mail to FBI..keep sending mails once a week or so..change the content..and subject of e-mail each time..be specific..add some 'touching reasons' in the mail..do not forget to include your A# and other details with each e-mail...(be careful while drafting e-mail..give some family or financial reasons..etc..hoping that if would touch the heart of a good person!!)
Apart from this, some people have contacted Mr. Hooton. I am not sure if that helps..as he may be getting several requests each day
If I was not cleared, my next step would have been to ask my employer to write to FBI-NNCP (probably with some compelling reasons)

    Good luck!

Is it because of your email working? Before you sent your email, you had already contacted several parties. The email just conformed one of your past efforts working.

I am yet to call TSC..thought it might take some time for them to digest the namecheck results of FBI!! I will call them next week.

Not sure which one really worked. Just one week earlier, I had sent requests to senate and house committees ( I have not received any response from them so far). I did e-mail to FBI after waiting for a week assuming that it would work, if someone had contacted FBI on my behalf by then. The FBI e-mail message was in response to my enquiries and it did mention the dates of my e-mail enquiries! (which means they are infact reading e-mails)
    Good luck to everyone,

  19. Many people have already reported it does not work and they never received response. It’s unlikely your email works but may be your other efforts. Why don’t you contact the TSC for the processing status and see what is their response now?

Well..that is what I have been telling..I am not sure which one worked but all I can say is I received response from FBI-NNCP that did refer to my earlier e-mail enquiries.
I will be contacting TSC next week.

  21. Update

I just called TSC. Initially the lady (very polite, friendly) told me that the case is pending (she did not say anything about name check). Then I told her that I received e-mail from FBI about my name check and I asked if that information is updated in TSC system. After checking for a minute she told me that the namecheck information is updated and the case will be forwarded to an officer soon! (name check info was not updated last week and the bottomline is it takes about 3 weeks for USCIS/TSC to update name check info sent by FBI!)
    Good luck to everyone,

I am smelling to some extent! I am also expecting a RFE for my wife (immunization) and may be one for me (I submitted a birth certificate that was obtained in 2004). Hope the officer understands the facts and approves it RIGHT AWAY!
I have also asked my attorney to initiate an inquiry (basically, he did not do anything after filing and I thought of giving his secretary some job!).

  24. cala:

This is the email ID that my wife and I sent email way back in 2005 to
check if our name checks were complete: fbinncp@ic.fbi.gov

I mentioned the following information for both of us:

Name (as it appeared in I485 petition)
    DOB
    A#

I sent atleast five emails, once every month, to the above email.

Our cases got adjudicated by the end of June 2005 and ironically,
I never received any email from FBI with the status on the name check pending on our cases.

In my opinion, keep sending emails every month until you get a response from them. Don't give up. You don't lose a thing just by sending an email every month. In fact, you will be drawing their attention by doing so.

There was also a posting (sometime beginning of 2005) by a member about taking this issue to a senator and involving him into it before getting a response from FBI. I may have book marked the thread in my home PC. If I get it, I will post it in this thread.

    Good luck.

    I second it!!

Also, IMHO while sending e-mails, try to gvie some personal touch (like how your employment or family is affected because of delay). Remember that you are making a humble request (since you are in the receiving end!!!!). I would recommend sending e-mail once in 10-15 days and in each e-mail mention your previous correspondance. Do not forget to include all the important information (Name, current add., A#, receipt #, DOB and other details) with regard to your case.
    Good luck,
