you make an appointment through infopass at your local ins office, show them the letter. then they may give a stamp on your passport.
When i called INS , the officer said that since it's been more than the time on welcome notice(2 to 3 weeks) , you can go to a local office with your welcome notice and they will give you some temporary proof of GC.
What is that?
Did any one get it and what do i need to take besides welcome notice?

I don't think in existence of some kind of temporary GC which may replace an approval letter you got right now.Man don't waist your time, getting around uscis office and getting some hard time.Just chill.Your approval letter is enough as proof of your PR status. The most important is not carrying that Card in your wallet. The important thing is about the count down for your citizenship.Give yourself enough time and I think you should get your card soon.If you don't,then use form I-90 and request one.
Good luck and enjoy your freedom.
Incorrect. The approval letter is not valid as proof.Originally Posted by cadel
Only the I-551 stamp in your passport is considered temporary proof of legal residnce (i.e. valid for 1 year). The Green Card, (also know as form I-551) is permanent proof of permantent residence (i.e. valid for 10 years) .

Last tiem, an officer told me to get a temp GC at local office by bringing two photos. But I have not tried to do it.Originally Posted by Asylee13
Temp. GC is something like I-94 but with picture on it, and your info it is little bit larger than I-94, I have seen it.
so, do i need to take just 2 pictures with me. Anything else?
Should i take my RTD or NP , in case they want to stamp on it. But on second thought , my RTD is going to expire in 2 months. So, how is that going to work. I hope they just give a card like I-94 as maca2005 said. thanks
