Go to http://www.trackins.com/labor/index.php and sort based on SESA Receipt (ascending order). You would see lots of cases from 2000/2001 in both EB3 and EB2.....

Not many cases. There are cases in 2000 and 2001 but it will not exceed 50. This does not mean that all the EB2 cases are going to be approved since getting EB2 approval is harder these days.

Here is my rough math...(very big guesses and assumptions...) I would refine them as I get more and more data from other ppl (I am not doing any data hunting, whatever is posted by logical ppl like infostarve etc).

There are 73k immigration cases pending (out of 750k total cases).
The rough math is 21% of these cases are EB-2 (Now I read someone posted that many EB-3 guys would be trying EB-2, is that possible, if yes, screw 21%), so 15k worth of EB-2 pending.

I did my math (I had a distribution of how many LC were filed for some unit, i assumed that for all centers the monthly distribution would be same), so out of 250 k cases, (excluding 25% of 245i filings) , 50 k are EB-2 (21%).

i DID THAT BEFORE MAY 2002 (WHEN i APPLIED), 1/3rd are before that time,
so that is another 16k EB-2.

Total EB-2 applied so far before May 2002 is then 31k. Each application takes 2.13 I-485 so, total 485 to be consumed before I am eligible is approx 65 K.

Now I have no idea how many rest of world EB-2 gets approved via perm every year (they would be instantly eligible and eat up the numbers), that would further eat up the number....so I guess I am looking at being eleigible to file I-485 in the year 2009, per the current law.

Now per country limit does not apply here as EB-2 if left will go to oversubscribed country first. If indeed Mcian and Kennedy bill is trying to get rid of this rule(and even if they increase per country limit and total gc numbers), still that is bad news for EB-2. For us the current law is better, if Mccain bill is passed without amending the current law, then it is better.
