hi guys,

thanx,
It depends on your current non-immigrant status and, perhaps, marital status.
Well I will be on H1b during residency. And suppose I do not marry a GC or a citizen...can a hospital still sponsor me a GC....should i work as an attending after my residency for them to sponsor me a Gc.
thanx,
If you apply in EB-1 category as an outstanding researcher, and the job qualifications would not be contingent on your graduation from the residency, then you can process GC while in the residency.
Otherwise, you have to meet the requirements for the job through which you are applying for the GC. Which typically means that you must have graduated from the residency program at the time of application for Labor Certification or I-140 (for NIW).
The friend of mine is currently finishing his residency in H-1 status, and his future employer already started advertisements in preparation for filing of RIR Labor Certification upon his graduation.
Hope this helps.
thanx yooper,
what I understand is that ....ur friend will be working for some HMO which has started the GC processing after is graduation. How long does it take? and what period of time has he signed up for.....I was planning to start fellowship as early as possible.
thanx
My friend has been hired by a private physician group. They will apply for RIR Labor Certification as soon as they complete 6-month advertisement period, but not earlier than my friend\'s graduation day.
Reading about the process will help.
Can I sponsor my own GC as an outstanding researcher....what kind of papers I need to show?
Yes, you can.
You can find list of qualifications on http://imminfo.com/knowledgebase/imm...AbilityPet.htm or http://www.ins.gov/graphics/howdoi/eligibility.htm
Yooper appears to have misread your post and thought that you were asking about a GC based on Extraordinary Ability. For that category Yooper is correct, but you need an employer for the Outstanding Researcher category.
