    Quebec interview in Paris

    Hi all,

Find this forum very useful. I have an interview in Paris for the Quebec selection, and I am really worried about it. I currently have barely enough points (and would need the extra 10 that is assigned by the officer). Can anyone tell me what can be expected at the interview? Reading from the various posts, it seems that it can be either very easy or very difficult. My worry is that my French is not very good. I have taken CEFP1 course at Alliance Franciases and practice (on my own) every day. But because I am not practicing with anyone else (cant find a French speaker here), I am not getting very good at it. I certainly have a problem understanding people speaking on radio (I am listening to radiocanada on the Internet).

Any feedback as to what types of questions will be asked (so I can prepare).

    Thanks,

    Ray

Thanks! folks who have responed to my query, you have made my day.
I also got the same guidance from the company who made a offer, that since i had already a landed immigrant( although did not stay) i am eligible to go any where in Canada to work and live.
The only issue is kids under certain age (12age) has to attend French school(medium of instruction) it is a rule of Qubec gov, heard you can get private school education but very expensive about 5-10k PA.
Well i would first take the job and then think of kids education part next academic year.

There were no queues and we were done in less than 1 hour.We took the flight back to US on same evening. We are just waiting for our PR card to be mailed to our friends address in Canada. We are keeping our fingers crossed.Visa Officer told us that it can take anywhere from 30 -40 days to get it.

We found local people to be very friendly and cooperative.
Can you please check your pm?

    My Landing Experience:

I am a US permanent resident and my Canadian Immigration was approved in Quebec selected skilled immigration class. I went to the border along with my US citizen friend (who was just visiting Canada) in a rental car.

I landed at Seattle/Vancouver border. I thought that since I am not landing at Quebec borders so I might face some problem but landing experience was such an easy that almost no special question asked, it took around 10-15 minutes including standing in the line, going to rest room etc. IO checked the landing paper-asked my first name, last name etc -- asked me to do my initials at couple of places and sign it. Then he asked if I remember from the original application about the money that I will bring with my landing -- I gave him the round figure and told him that I have my bank statement with me but he simply wrote the amount on the landing doc and no statement/doc was checked. He gave me a piece of paper to notify about my address later so that they could mail my PR out there. He congratulated me …. Stood up to shake hands…That’s it!!

Custom officers were so nice as well, I told them that I am not importing any thing but they advised me to put as much stuff as I can on ‘Goods to follow list’ so that I could import all that ‘duty free’ (no duty on OR up to CAN $ 10,000.00 per item) in the future. They also advised to put VIN number of my personal car as well so that whenever/if-ever I would decide to import it then I could get the same duty free benefit AND until then it will always be considered as not-imported. So I entered VIN number of my personal car as well which I was not driving.

While driving back, it took 1-4 minutes at US border, IO took my green card and my friend’s proof of Citizenship, verified those documents in his computer, asked ‘if we were bringing anything from Canada’ -- answered …. That’s it. He returned our docs back -- with smiling good evening.

    Quebec Immigration

    Hey Everybody,
It's so nice to be here.I really am hopeful that someone in this forum would help me.
I was in the US for 4 years.I applied and received a CSQ.I'm back now in Cameroon.I intend to use my CSQ to apply for the visa, but somewhere, it is written that applicants have to get police clearances from the countries they've lived in over the past 10 years. Now I can't go back to the US.I intend to apply for the visa from Cameroon. Can someone help me with what I could possibly do? Is it possible for someone else to go to the police and get a clearance for me? If yes, How do they get my finger prints?
    Please, somebody help!

    Hi Adangevan,

From what i have read from other forums, about getting police clearance, what you have to do is to contact the embassy of the said country in your home country. Then secondly you can also go to google and search how to get police clearance from America. I hope this information helps.

Adangevan please could you send your e.mail to me so that we can always discuss. My e.mail is niomoubih@yahoo.co.uk

    Best Regards

    Question Quebec Immigration

    Thanks kindwoman,
You're kind indeed! I got another quick question: My CSQ expires in May 2007, I'm rounding off with my MA in Translation in July 2007.Is there any way the deadline on the CSQ could be extended? OR can one still use it to apply even if it has already expired by a couple of months?
I'm hoping that someone will come to my rescue here.
    Regards,
    Adangevon

I have a question about applying as Quebec skilled worker. During the application process, how many interviews do we go through?

I know there will be an interview at Quebec, but once I send my federal application, will there be another interview scheduled for me?

    Thanks.

  10. #70
You should be looking at 2 interviews at most. Before you get the CSQ, you may have to go for an interview (that is if they notice that you're not from a french-speaking country), then, before you get the visa, you'd be called up for another interview. Both interviews could be waived. It is at their discretion.
    I hope this helps

Lightbulb Quebec Filling: is it easier / Faster ??

Somebody advised me that filling Papers for Quebec Province is faster than filling for Toronto.
Can someone please advise me what is the current date going for Quebec PR.

If I get qualified for filling in Quebec, then should I file for Quebec or shall I finally under Federal Skilled Worker for Simplified Applicatioin Procedure for.

Please advise if filling via Quebec is faster? & advise if getting points for Quebec is easier or for Federal.

I will be filling all the papers along with my wife & kids.

Please reply, I will be much obliged

    Hello all,

Could you answer to my questions regarding Quebec immigration?

    1. Is it possible being Quebec migrant to land outside of Quebec and get PR card outside Quebec? Or switch after landing to Federal skilled worker prorgram?

    2. Can I after landing somewhere in Quebec and obtaining a PR card in Quebec move and work in other province? Is PR card in Quebec the same as others by Federal program?

    Thanks!

Wink obtaining a PR card in Quebec move and work in other province?

    Hi Dasein
Regarding your two questions I'm not totally sure whether you can have your PR card in another province after landind outside Quebec.

You are however able to move freely, settle and work anywhere within Canada after you have landed. In other words your Quebec obtained PR card functions just the same as one obtained Ontario or any other province.

Hope this helps you.Good Luck and keep posting to let others know your experience with CSQ timeline/interviews etc and help keep the thread going.I myself am considering submitting an application in Paris soon so I would appreciate all information anyone might have about this route.

    thnx in advance!

About the French Language Evidence ..

reading post like that of course helps a lot ... So just want to ask about : is it a Must when i am submitting Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) to attach with it the Proof of the french language proficiency ? or i can submit it and later after sometime of practicing ?!! just to save some time !!

and is it really that quebec process time is faster than any of the other categories ?

Need information for immigration to Quebec.

    Hi all,

I'm new on the forum and I hope to get useful information...

My wife and I intend to send a normal application (not skilled/professional) for immigration to Quebec soon (by this Saturday 15.08.09). We are from Mauritius (Indian Ocean/Africa) and we need to send the application to Paris to have an interview/CSQ.
We would like to know what is the timeframe after sending the application. When can we have a reply, file number, interview, all information that will help me. We both speak french and english fluently, we haven't visit Quebec, and we don't have high education (university etc). I work in the freight/logistics industry and have been working for an international company (DHL) for 3 yrs, my wife is a qualified hairdresser. What are our chages of having an interview/CSQ?

    Awaiting for your replies.

    Thanks & regards
    Peps

    Hey everyone,

I graduated from college in america one year ago. I have a B.A in English Language and Literature and have roughly 1 year's worth of work experience while I was in college. The first semester of my last year at my college, I worked at the University Aquatic and Fitness Center as a Facility Attendant. It was part time and I worked there approx from Sep to Dec. My last semester I worked at the university development community at the Phonathon as a Student Caller. I did this part time from Jan- May.

After graduating I have done two internships. The first; I was a Sales and Marketing Intern at a luxury transportation company for about 6 months. This was full time. In Febuary i started interning at a women;s rights NGO in the Online Communications Dept until now.

With these qualifications am I eligible to apply for the Skilled Worker program for immigrating to Canada?

    Please and Thank You!

An immigration officer will ask you about your educational qualifications and professional experiences.
He will check the original university certificates and mark sheets and work certificates and salary slips for the last few months.
He will ask you what have you researched on Québec job market. How do you assess your probability of getting a job there.
Show him the print outs of the information that you have got.
Why you want to immigrate to Québec ?
He will see if you fluently understand French, have some knowledge about Québec and have the necessary qualifications.
And that you intend to settle in Québec.
