    Name-LastNmae reversed

. I can’t believe it happened to me but… I did the EAD renewal online two days ago; following the great instructions here I immediately prepared and mailed the supporting documentation package and called the 800-number to get the picture/fingerprint taken this morning. While I was at the ASC, they noticed that my name and last-name were reversed –i.e., I made this mistake in the web form. They suggested to wait for the EAD card to arrive with the mistake and then call and report the problem. Hmmm. When I came home I called the 800 number and they were clueless too – i.e., they didn’t offer a way to fix the problem. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks much.

  2. EAD approval and Job change?

I have applied for 140 and 485 concurrently. As I understand from this forum, these days California service center does not issue the EAD until 140 is approved.

My question is can I change my job as soon as I get the EAD, or do I have to wait for a certain period of time? Also, is the EAD issued as soon as the 140 gets approved, or is there a delay involved?

  3. HowMuchLonger

Sorry to hear your case .... I personally do not know how to reslove your issue; Please post your question as a seperate new thread, may be someone can guide you.
I will add this as an IMPORTANT check point i.e make sure the Date of Birth, A# , First Name / Family Name are correct , before the ONLINE Application is SUBMITTED.
But one lesson here is learnt that if one can make a mistake in their OWN application , then the guys at INS who enter "DATA" into the computer for the hundreds of "PAPER EAD " Application every day will surely make some mistakes.

This ironically reinforces the case to file the Online EAD.

I am sorry if you are offended . but this is not to taunt you but to help guide those who will E-File in future.

Hi - no offense taken... I also agree that it is a good idea to add the "checkpoint." I started the new thread per youir suggestion. I've been thinking that ig I get the card with the error perhaps it isn't a big deal as it has a picture, ect.

  6. Online Backup of the PDF files

    Hi All,

Just a reminder that you should not trust your PC as a relaible place to store the EAD pdf files. (You never know when these may crash ......)

The best solution is to ZIP the pdf files and mail them to one of your "Internet" Email accounts e.g yahoo or hotmail.

That way you can always access them wherever through the WWW and it will always act as a backup ...just in case the un-thinkable happens.

Ofcourse once you get the receipt ..it is another backup plan.

    But anyway just in case.......

    Goodluck to all.

    Attaching DL with EAD app

I did n't send DL copies with renewal of EAD application. How bad is that?? Shud i expect any RFE based on that??

In the instructions sheet of 765 form there wasn't anything about DL to be attached with form.

    Any input is appreciated.

Re: Attaching DL with EAD app

    Hey amcom

For your info, I applied for renewal of EAD online and it is mentioned on the receipt :
"DO NOT send photos or copies of identification unless requested to do so"

This means that you do not need to send your DL copies anyway!

  12. All,

The list of documents that are listed in this thread are based on various experiences of people form different Service centers.

Please use your best judgement ! (in regards to what to send)

    Regards.

  13. eb2_I485_RD0901,
Thank your for your great Guide!

    I have some questions,
"Copy of I-485 petition" -- Is it "Copy of I485 Receipt Notice"?

"Copy of I-140 Approval Petition" -- My case hasn't been
approved yet. Can I use "Copy of I140 Receipt Notice" instead?

If it's my first time to apply an EAD, what else should I add into?

  14. ytkm,

Copy of I-485 petition" -- Is it "Copy of I485 Receipt Notice"?
    ==> YES

"Copy of I-140 Approval Petition" -- My case hasn't been
approved yet. Can I use "Copy of I140 Receipt Notice" instead?
    ==>YES

It looks like you did not apply for the EAD when you filled your "concurrent" I485/I140; There should be no problem ; just send these receipts.

    Regards.

  15. My I-140, I-485 and my husband's I-485,I-765 receipts have a same number "Axx xxx xxx" under APPLICANT(I485)/BENEFICIARY(I140).
    Is it A#?

I didn't apply EAD when we filed I-140 and I-485.
My husband's A# on his EAD is "A0xx-xxx-xxx". Last
eight digits are same as the number on the above receipts. We are confused. Can somebody help us out?

  16. eb2_I485_RD0901,

I e-filed the I-765 yesterday. I did not apply for the EAD when I filled my "concurrent" I485/I140. so I entered an A# from my OPT card on the e-filing. But I noticed there is another A# on my I-140 and I-485 receipts. Should I enter this one into the E-filing?
I didn't mail the documents and call to make any appointments yet.

What should I do right now? Should I re-file I-765 again? Can we
    submit two I-765 applications?

    Thanks.

  17. Late?! EAD filing

eb2_I485_RD0901 my heartiest congratulations for your GC approval. I surely hope one of the worst nightmares of your life is over now! Enjoy your freedom!

    eb2_I485_RD0901/JAXEN ,
I have a I missed to see the EAD expiration date which is on 04/02/04 and for my wife 04/01/04. We both are working on EAD. I don't know how missed it but I have an intimidatory situation. Without wasting a minute, I have e-filed I-765 application for me and my wife today. After filing, I called the NSC IIO to get an appointment for photo and finger priniting. We got one for tomorrow morning 8.00 AM at local ASC. She also said, no way I can get an interim EAD from local service centers. She had very happily declared that even if I attempt one, it is my waste of time!
Now, gurus, what are the best options I have with me to get iEAD or something like that. And, my card is still not charged for the application fee. Also, I get the following case status now. Is this normal?

"Status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the service center where you submitted your application"

What is OPT card?? How can yo have 2 different A#. You shud have only 1 A# just like SSN.

Your 140 & 485 will have same A# and that was the number you shud've used while filing EAD.

Well now you have 3 options:-
    1. Send a letter rightnow along with your other docs like photos/ copies of 140 /485, which u will send eventually (u did e-file right!!) and state your condition and send your correct A# in that letter. This is the best option for you since you haven't mailed ur docs yet.
    2. If you want to Wait and have time then till they RFE you on this issue.
    3. u can send 2 apps for EAD; people have done that on the forum; some by mistake and some intentionally

  21. govgc:

I go the same message as soon as i complete e-filing my EAD renewal, but after few hrs the msg changed to 'we rcvd your application.....blah...blah.....it takes 60-120days to process this kind of case......'

so try to chk the msg today, i think you will see a std msg

Eligibility to get IEAD is the 91st day of your pending status. I guess you can go to the nearest ASC and ask for an IEAD, if the application is still pending on that date. Other than date, i think we don't have any option to expedite the case or something. But in the past 1-2 months, EAD approvals are happening anywhere from 60- 90 days(TSC), so keep your fingers crossed !

You can also take a look at suggestions from other senior members of this form about what are the other alternatives to manage the Invalid EAD situation......just in case !

  22. ManiG,
I appreciate your posting. But could you please enlighten me on

"You can also take a look at suggestions from other senior members of this form about what are the other alternatives to manage the Invalid EAD situation......just in case !"

    Date Of Application

When I was filing the E-I765 I think I made a mistake, they asked for

Have you ever applied for EAD: Yes

Date for Application : I have put the date when my application for last EAD was signed. I think I should have put the issue date of EAD and expiry date of my current EAD what was issued last time.

    Is this a major mistake???

I was confused with their question, Date for application??? This does not imply date was issued or date it will expire.....

    Any thoughts???
Consider me a novice and don't do what I say.

  25. Sahin,

I don't think there will be any problems.
since your last EAD was approved ... that is what matters.

    Regards.

  26. Certified Mail for PO Boxes is possible

    All,

Yes it is possible to send a Certified Mail with a return receipt to a PO Box.

Note: The return receipt from the Service Center has a "STAMP" indicating the Service Center; No Signature. But someting is better than nothing for Peace of Mind.

    Regards.

  27. Hi All,

Since my case has been approved , I am not visiting this thread as often as I used to do before.

However I will continue to update the Online Guide based on peoples' experience and questions.

If anybody has specific questions about EAD errors or other questions NOT related to the "Online Guide" please post your question in a new thread ; there is a better probability that more people will see a new thread comapred to questions embedded in this thread. (However if it is a question related to the EAD online guide please post it in this thread)

My case was an AC21 case , where I changed states ; (different service center based on the geographic region ) . If you are interested please read details at : http://www.immigrationportal.com/sho...5&pagenumber=1

    Regards.
