Another question... What happens if your employer gives you extra work that will result in a higher salary than that which is specified during the original E-3 application?

Is there a list of criteria somewhere for the "specialty occupation" you mentioned? I'm interested to see if I qualify. Are you able to give me a rough idea on how long the average E-3 adjudication takes? Finally, I assume an application for an E-3 has to be done through an immigration lawyer...

1) Can I file for/receive an E-3 at any time of year? 2) How long do these applications generally take to process and is there a way to expedite it?

Do you know if it's possible to transfer from an E-3 to an H-1B? If so, any idea what's involved?

Thanks for that, nkm. Am I correct in assuming that - were I to get an H1 - I would have to wait until October before I could begin work? Reason I ask is I'd probably be required to start before then, so I'm curious to know if there's a way to bridge that gap?
