Expeditious Naturalization vs. Reentry Permit

I am a U.S. citizen sponsoring my wife and her two children. They all have green cards, expiring this October. I am moving outside of the U.S. for work as a federal contractor. My wife and her kids will stay in the U.S. for a few months without me while they finish school then they will join me outside of the U.S.

From what I have read, we qualify for expeditious naturalization under section 319(b) because:

"Your U.S. citizen spouse must be 'regularly stationed abroad' as:
- An employee or an individual under contract to the U.S. government

My concern is that if we apply for expeditious naturalization and get denied for some reason, and during that time their green cards expire or during that time they are outside of the U.S. for a long enough time that they have problems getting back in when my employment is finished.

What is the most logical thing to do here?

Try to get expeditious naturalization?

Forget naturalization for now and apply for reentry permits?

Or would Form N-470 be a better idea?

I read the FAQ and I read up on reentry and N-470, but I would like to hear other opinions.

Thank you.
