Need to travel but Green Card is being processed for an error

My Mother in Law just received her green card a little over 2 months ago. There was an error on it (marked her male instead of female) This was a USCIS error. They are processing the correction, but in the meantime they have her card as she had to mail it back to them. She kept a copy. What does she do if she wants to travel abroad before the new card comes in the mail? TY!

Make an infopass appointment at your nearest CIS office, take the proof of having sent the card in and the copy, and she should get a stamp in her passport.
