H1b -> Green Card from spouse who is U.S Citizen

To add to dr_lha's comment: the Boston District Office (which will likely be the office adjudicating your case if you file in Massachusetts) has been processing things very quickly. So you could have your greencard in as few 3 months after you apply. As for costs: the fees for the basic USCIS...

    plz help ...urgent...in crisis

blury-- One more thing: visajourney.com has a forum devoted specifically to issues surrounding the removal of conditions. I've seen many posts there from people in situations similar to yours. You might consider reading through some of that.

    plz help ...urgent...in crisis

blury, I'm so sorry you're going through all this. Your husband is dead wrong about getting you deported. You already have a conditional greencard. The only thing your husband can do immigration-wise is to make the removal of conditions difficult for you. This would have to be done around...

USCIS Case update system has gone completely CRAZY!

Well, I guess all that activity was for a reason. I got my EAD card in the mail today. Yay!

USCIS Case update system has gone completely CRAZY!

So... I received 8 (that's right, EIGHT) emails in quick succession this afternoon, all within the space of two minutes, and all saying exactly the same thing -- that my EAD application had been approved. This is after the 3 identical emails that I received yesterday morning saying that my EAD...

AOS Interview Report (San Francisco): loo....ooong

Whew! It's over. It went relatively well, I think, though we haven't been given final approval. I was hoping to be approved right away, though that was not to be, alas! All said, the whole thing didn't take too much time. Our interview was scheduled for 1:45; we got there at 1:15 and were...

    Significance of a passport stamp

Not sure about the I-94 thing. Could you make an Infopass appointment to ask about that? You might also be able to get a bit more information about what's happening with the namecheck. Regarding the Missouri Service Center: isn't that where everything's initially processed at? All my...

    Significance of a passport stamp

From what I've read on these boards it seems that they do stamp passports sometimes if you ask for it. The stamp is supposed to allow you to do everything that the actual greencard does -- work, travel etc. However, in your case, since your namecheck hadn't cleared yet, it is my understanding...

Receipt date: August (mid august to september)

Sushil31, No, I haven't gotten the EAD approval yet. I noticed that my I-765 was last updated on 11/15 after a long time -- so perhaps an EAD is in the offing. Our AOS interview is on Monday, however -- so I'm hoping we'll be approved and the EAD will be moot. You never know, though.

Can citizen apply for parent who is out of status?

The cases I have heard of are ones where the foreign spouse of a US citizen has overstayed. And the standard advice in those cases seems to be that the foreign spouse should NOT leave the US till he or she has adjusted status. The worry is that, otherwise, certain travel bans may be triggered...

AOS Interview in San Francisco today

Congratulations, jj4life. And thanks for the update. Our interview, also in San Francisco and also at 1:45pm, is a few days from now, on Monday. It's good to hear that the experience is generally positive.

Married to American living in Canada. Can I work in USA?

Direct Consular Filing (DCF) for a greencard might be appropriate in your case. My non-USC sister and her USC husband are doing this from Germany so that my sister can get her greencard for when they move back to the States. I know there are residency requirements for the USC spouse, who is...

Receipt date: August (mid august to september)

That's good news, cindywang16. Congratulations! Our RDs are the same (8/28), so may be my EAD approval will come soon too. :) So far no emails (in fact, I've never gotten a single email since the whole process started) and no LUDs for the I-765 since just after my FP/Bio on 9/19. By the...

    Affidavit from graduate student

Gottlob, Yes, it sounds like a good idea to ask your MIL. We were a little awkward about asking the in-laws, but they seemed surprised that we would consider asking anyone else, and were very eager to help. I hope things work out for you.

    Affidavit from graduate student

mermaid06-- I went on leave _after_ filing for adjustment of status. When you're pending AOS, that's considered being in status. In fact, even if I had an F1, my F1 would no longer be valid after I filed for AOS, especially since the F1 is a non-immigrant visa. Also, overstays are...
