Same here. My wife's 485 was Approved on Oct 3rd and the card has been maied. Mine wasn't approved. When I checked with VCS the CR told me that they are waiting on my Security check. I don't know when my 485 will be approved.

I think the CGFNS cerfiticate they are referring to is the Visa screen Certificate.

Don't know whats happening with VCS. Its sickening.

Thats right. A# is the file number. Visa number will be alloted to you when your case is ready for approval.

Yes, you can travel using OLD H1 VISA. I did it myself. Make sure you show your current approved I-797 to the immigration officer at the port of entry

You can try applying to CGFNS. Make sure you specify your Maters degree as the professional degree not your undergrad degree.
