this is hw it goes. if ur girlfriend is a us citizen then u can apply for ur green card right after marriage. when u apply she has to sponser u and give an affidavit of support tht she can bear ur expenses. as u say u both r in school then she can have a joint affidavit.apply for ur adjustment...

well ur name suggest tht u r an indian. well ur mom and dad can go to tthe court and get this certificate froma magistrate by jus showing some proof of marriage likea wedding picture. tht will do it i guess tell them to ask a lawyer in india.
hey nkm-oct i think she has to maintain her F-1 status until she gets her green card. only the oneon F-1 who is married to an USC need not maintain the student status after filing I-485 but in this case the wife does need to maintain her status. and hey u r right the lawyer thing does look fishy.
yes ur OPT will be after your graduation but your EAD usually takes 90 days and if u dont get it u after 90 days u can walk into ur local office and get an interim EAD which is usually valid for 8-9 months and within this period u get ur original EAD. so better after ur wedding file all ur forms...
