I got my cancelled Indian passport back along w/the 'foreign' passport. No extra postage. I still think that they just don't want any original documents (ie send photocopies only) along w/your OCI application. The cancellation part isn't relevant to the OCI so I don't see how they would care...

I sent in my Indian passport for cancellation along w/my OCI application. The site just says not send the original passport along w/the OCI application. I took that to mean only send photocopies for the docs that were required for the OCI application.

^But being an OCI does not constitute dual citizenship.

I'm so excited about this. Kudos to the Indian gov for getting this up n running.

I can travel to India @ will right? I don't need to contact the Indian embassy or nothing?

Bump...updated timeline I recieved my sticker and OCI card. I must say that aside from the problems w/pictures it was a smooth process.

It definetly is a cultural thing but that shoudn't be an excuse. They need to be called out on their horrible service.

I've called a handful of times and never been able to get a live person on the other end.

There have been plenty of discussions about this. Do a search for it...

Yea well they wanted that size so I had few options. I tried taking some pics myself w/a digi cam but got tired of it. OCI ppl think they are too good for passport pic regulations?

That's a good idea. I'm assuming they accepted my pics cause it's under review right now and they haven't sent it back. YET. I've got my fingers crossed.

I submitted pics that had white background after cutting them down to the size requested. NO place I went to had non-white backgrounds. I think they made the pic guidelines to make it even more of a difficult process than it already is.
