Indian parent with multiple US visits and extensive foreign travel - Odds of rejections on renewal

Thanks. I feel better. Its interesting to note that 10 years ago when she applied for her B2, I had provided her the I-134, and thats the only document that the Visa Officer kept. Strange.

Indian parent with multiple US visits and extensive foreign travel - Odds of rejections on renewal

Easy Renewal ? "Easy Renewal" ? Is that a term for a special visa process for folks that are in my mom's position ? Or does she still need to go through the regular process, just that it might be "easy":p

Indian parent with multiple US visits and extensive foreign travel - Odds of rejections on renewal

Hello, I am a US citizen (formerly Indian). My mom lives back in India and her 10-year mutiple-entry visitor visa is now up for renewal. She has been here to the US three times over the past 10 years and has never overstayed. She has extensive foreign travel all over the world (at some point...

    status update with SS administration

Hmm.. Photocopy are you sure ? I showed them the original. I dont see how they would update anything without an original government issued document. Could be wrong though.

    status update with SS administration

I applied for my passport at the Naturalization Ceremony itself. With Expedited service, I had my passport in hand in 10 days. It was probably a few weeks after that, that I made changes to my SSA status. So I dont think the SSA status affects your passport.

Applying for an Indian "Entry" visa - Is ORIGINAL or PHOTOCOPY of Renunciation Cert Required

:confused:I was an Indian Citizen, now naturalized US citizen. I already have my Renunciation Certificate. Do I need to submit this ORIGINAL certificate when applying for an Indian Visa ? or will a PHOTOCOPY do. As always, anything to do with the Indian Government is a big black hole. I am...

Los Angeles, CA - N-400 Timeline

Just got Passport, Passport Card and Naturalization Cert back today (3rd June). I applied on the 18th May the day of the Oath. Can't stop looking at the passport. It is a thing of beauty. IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE: Make sure you fill in the passport application form online and print it. This...

Traffic tickets and naturalization (threads merged)

Here is my advice after having been in the same position as you and gone through without a scratch. Three pieces of advice, and take these very seriously: 1. DO NOT Volunteer any information, it just causes more questions and can lead to problems. 2. DO NOT lie to the IO. If asked about...

NRI group objects to new Indian rule on passport surrender

I fully support this. $175 to surrender a passport is a BIG RIP OFF. What are they doing to earn that money ? Running a fingerprint check ? Wait, they dont have my fingerprints. This is ridiculous. Gotta love the fact that governments can completely monopolize certain "businesses" and there is...

Surrender Certificate Rules - Which one applies to me

I just got my citizenship today (18th May) and I want to surrender my Indian passport ASAP. Clearly this will happen within 90 days of naturalization. So I dont know which of the items in the penalty table at http://www.cgisf.org/ applies to me. 1. If you have an Indian Passport which has...

Los Angeles, CA - N-400 Timeline

In retrospect that was a good idea kalinadude and I would recommend this to everybody. It will save you a couple of hours of standing in line. I guess I just got caught up in the excitement of the moment seeing lots of people applying and decided to go for it. Oh well, its over and done with...

How long does Passport Card take ?

Thanks David. I did get expedited processing but even that is a bit too long for my liking because in the event of an emergency where I need to travel (say) tomorrow unexpectedly, not having ann NC to even apply for an emergency passport is not a nice feeling. So you are kinda in this...

Do CBP officers still say "Welcome home" to you when you come back to USA after a overseas trip?

I agree.. Who really cares what they say, but its entertaining, now that we are almost at the end of the journey (I just took the Oath today).

Los Angeles, CA - N-400 Timeline

No not verbatim. Although its up to their discretion I guess as to how far off you are. If you answer Susan B Hendricks instead of Susan B Anthony, that probalby mnight count as a strike :-) Some of the questions as you probably guessed have multiple answers, ANY ONE of which is correct. So you...
