All of a sudden the I-485 application was approved with an approval notice email, but no further updates on the USCIS website or emails. Yesterday, the card showed up in the mailbox along with 2 identical copies of welcome notice:). There was no LUD after finger printing (code 3), since 11/20/2006:rolleyes:. Please see the signature file.

The derivative applicant had an RFE on I-485 (06/11/2007) for TB-skin test  (the application was originally submitted with the X-ray report alone as the applicant had TB skin test done in the last 3 years). Responded to RFE with TB-skin test and X-ray. Promptly, there was an update :)(07/05/2007; LUD; RFE received, application process resumed; should receive approval or futher information within 60 days). But there was no further LUD since July 05, 2007:mad:.

This forum is unassumingly great in sharing the application process and gives immense insight on writing recommendation letters and other details. Our application went through a professional immigration lawyer and previously had O1 visa. So was exposed to the process of recommendation letters and cover letters before.
Was just patient as i had O1 visa in hand. The derivative applicant was living with EAD. I had traveled abroad twice and never had any issues or problems at the border with the officer. But people, please try to carry all immigration related documents, including, pending I-485; approved I-140 (if you have); existing H1B or O1 approval; and if possible your employment letter and visiting card. Was asked to show one of the above or in combination on both the occasions of my return to US.

Consistenly getting response from calls to NSC: "Internal and External checks pending". No idea whats going on. Glad that not all EB1Bs are screwed. Enjoy ;)

Aroma_kills and all-

Thank you very much. I sincerely understand your position. Just came out of it. Do not feel bad, matter of time. If you have your I-140 approved, I-485 is on the way. Name clearance, RFE on I-485 for birth certificate, TB-skin test, its all part of the game. Eventually we all will land on I-485 approval.

I did not understand. You had TB skin test but that was done three years ago and had submitted with recent X-ray report.

If i understand correctly, if TB skin test turns out be be negative, then one need not submit X-ray test. Recently I had done my medicals and TB skin test was -ve and doctor told me that I need not to take X-ray. But doctor declined to give me a copy of medical report saying all tests were -ve. But I dont know what he has marked next to X-ray test although written normal for TB skin test.

May be i didnt write it clearly. TB-skin test was done within the last 3 years (in 2004) and it was +ve. Both the physician and the applicant agreed to skip the test and go for the chest X-ray. As per CDC and prevention, one should not undergo TB skin test within 3-5 years, if the candidate had a +ve test (in the last 3-5 years). But accidently, the physician failed to mark the skin test as negative on the application (left the box empty triggering the RFE). Hope i am clear now.

Thanks. I got my O1 approved back in September 2005 (for a period of 3 years).

I used
6 reference letters (3 international and 3 within the US), cover letters inlcuding supporting letter by the company and attorney's justification letter (written by immigration attorney; petition was sponsored by the company), publications- 9 first author papers, 2 second author papers,
2 invited reviews,
1 book chapter,
abstracts,
8 invited lectures,
citation index (totally ~151 papers cited my original research publications, i sincerely collected all the citations first page, exact cited page with the text highlighted, reference section of the respective publications),
guest reviewer for 2 scientific journals,
2 approved patents (including website information),
PhD degree certificate notarized by the attorney, previous immigration documents, J1 (with waiver certificate), H1B and O1.

I think i have listed everything possible.
