Minor Traveling alone to Canada

I'm planning to send my son (7 years old) to Canada during the summer. He will be traveling alone on his way there and he will be returning with his aunt, uncle and cousins. He has a National Passport and a Green Card (AS8).

Will he have any problem traveling. Does he need an authorization and where can I get it (becuse of his age) Colombian embassy? USCIS? Canadian Embassy? Or just a notarized authorization?

Any inputs are welcome.

I assume your son is going to Canada to visit his aunt and her family. I believe a letter from both the parents needs to be provided to the airline staff. Since he is a minor, an airline staff member will escort your son through CIC. CIC would need to know that both parents have authorized their son's trip to Canada and it should also mention the person (and relationship) who will be taking care of the child in Canada. Once your son clears CIC, the airline staff will then hand over your son to his aunt after verifying her identity.
A second letter will be needed for USCIS on his way back. His aunt will be given a tough time if she cannot produce a letter from the parents of the child granting her custody of the child for the trip.
 
You assume right. He is going to visit his relatives in Canada, and then, they are coming to visit us.
Does this letter has to be notarized or issued by my embassy?
 
This has to be a letter from you. You can get it notarised if you prefer. Just make sure it has your cell number in case the officers (CIC or USCIS) need to speak to the parents to confirm your son's passage.
