I got my OCI about 5 years ago, but now have a new passport. According to the NY CGI web site, those between 21-50 don't have to have a new OCI issued. Does that mean that I have to travel with the previous passport (and sticker)?

So basically, has anyone done this - travel with just the OCI "card", and a new passport? Have there been any problems in India?

Also, I tried to access the "hosted service" for this in the MHA website as directed by the NY CGI website - could not find it. Anyone else having to deal with this?!

A friend of mine who applied a week before, got his application back for the same reason.

Questions..

1)I was thinking of applying for OCI for just myself and my son if the applications are sent back. When I fill the online application, do I leave the spouse part just blank?

2)My wife might just apply for a Indian Visa at this time...Will this name difference cause an issue with tourist visa as well?

They will keep your Indian passport and issue a "surrender certificate".
